DIRECTORS and OFFICERS

ROBERT J. KHEEL is a Director as well as President and Treasurer of NNF. Kheel is an attorney who worked for more than 40 years with the firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher and is currently practicing as a mediator, arbitrator, and litigator. He is a Lecturer in Law Columbia Law School and has been recognized in New York’s Super Lawyers in business Litigation. In addition to his position as president of Nurture Nature Foundation, he is a Trustee of Howard and Georgeanna Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine. Kheel is a member of the New York State, District of Columbia, and American Bar Associations and the Association of the City of New York. He received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1969, an M.S. in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1966, and a B.A. from Cornell University in 1965.

JANE K. STANLEY is a Director as well Vice President and Secretary of NNF. She is an attorney with over forty-five years legal experience, who practiced and wrote in the area of pension and welfare law for many years and has since devoted herself to addressing the legal, financial, and programmatic issues of several nonprofits. Stanley has published extensively on issues pertinent to tax exempt organizations, including a treatise on employee benefits law published by the Bureau of National Affairs, for the American Bar Association. Stanley served at the Solicitor's Office at the United States Department of Labor, Plan Benefits Security Division, for over a decade, litigating multi-million dollar cases of pension abuse in corporate takeovers, venture capital and securities investments, and ESOPs.

EDWARD L. PECK is a Director of NNF and its original incorporator when it was formed in 1991. He is an en estate lawyer, of counsel to the firm of Bryan Cave LLP. He concentrates his practice on estate planning, estate administration and Surrogate’s Court matters. Mr. Peck advises clients in structuring estate plans, drafting wills and trusts. He also provides clients with legal and tax advice in connection with filing of fiduciary estate and income tax returns, estate tax audits and fiduciary accountings. With the preparation of complex wills and trusts, Mr. Peck serves as counsel, executor, and/or trustee to effectuate the plan. Another focus of his practice includes Surrogate’s Court litigation involving will and trust controversies. Mr. Peck is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Committee on Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates, a graduate of the Wharton School, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

RICHARD C. STANLEY joined NNF's Board as an Associate Director in 2022. Rick is a conservationist, biologist, and wildlife photographer. Currently a PhD candidate in the Tropical Ecology and Conservation Lab at the University of Florida. He studies Interdisciplinary Ecology and specializes in the behavior and conservation of birds. Rick is also interested in the science of sustainability and in understanding how communities coexist with nature in social-ecological systems. Rick has worked as a field biologist on research projects and conservation initiatives in Central America, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. He has researched endangered orioles in the Bahamas, surveyed biodiversity in Indonesia’s mountain rainforests, and studied wildlife management techniques on the island of Mauritius. Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University and a Master of Research degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation from Imperial College, London. He was also awarded a Postgraduate Certificate with Distinction from the University of Kent for Endangered Species Recovery.

GABRIELLE R. SALAZAR joined NNF's Board as an Associate Director in 2022. Gabby is an environmental social scientist and a conservation photographer. She has a PhD from University of Florida, where she studied environmental marketing and environmental education evaluation, and holds an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London. Gabby has helped develop environmental education programs in North America and in India. Most recently, she co-developed the Community Action Projects for the Environment Program (CAPE) for 4-H youth, a program at the intersection of civic and environmental education. She has also collaborated with the Centre for Wildlife Studies in India on the creation of an Environmental Education ("EE") program that has reached over 20,000 students since 2018. Gabby is a National Geographic Explorer, an Associate Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and a Past President of the North American Nature Photography Association. She is the co-author of the book “No Boundaries: 25 Women Explorers and Scientists Share Adventures, Inspiration, and Advice”, published by National Geographic Kids Books in 2022.
