Go Wild: A Get-Active Guide to the Natural Side of City Living By Brad Matsen

Go Wild in New York City! is a book on a mission: to reveal the nature in and around New York to children and their parents. Using eye-popping graphics and riveting information, both platforms aim to inspire deep appreciation for the natural environment - and to make it easy to get involved in nurturing New York's nature.

The narrative of the book leads children on a journey of discovery, presenting them with everyday things, then getting them to look deeper. The book includes hands-on activities for children to do at home or in their own neighborhoods that build on key topics. The book is made of a waterproof, paperless, recyclable material and spiral-bound, allowing the book to lie flat when open, fit in a backpack, and stand up to a hundred muddy trips.

The design firm Dillon Thompson and the writer Brad Matsen, among a host of others, will be collaborating with Eye Candy Books to create the book and its complementary Web site. Go Wild's interactive website will launch in Fall 2004.
